new purchases, old possessions

Pictures above showcasing my latest sale purchases: cos top that is yet to be unveiled; zara tweed blazer in military khaki green.
Some old but gold accessories which include the MMM for H&M silver candy wrapper clutch; the crazy and simplistic MMM for H&M key ring necklace.

The rest of the photos are merely some strange decorations, by strange I mean the plastic orchids. Im my defense here, I must state that I do have real orchids in the house that are blooming wonderfully.

Now back to the topic, winter sale is usually the best sale time of the year, but this season I did not score a lot of sale-deals, which probably has something to do with my ever so busy college life and the tight budget of mine. You may have noticed that I got a new camera that I carry around all the time, an interchangeable lense camera to be exact. And we know that cameras are not cheap.

Did you score something truly nice at sale? Let me know.

ss 2013 ad campaigns round-up

I thought it'd be entertaining if I do a 'love or loathe' on the ad campaigns of the big fashion houses that are out now. Since I didn't quite like the idea of every big brand doing pre-fall collections, I didn't even catch up with all the collections that are out there. The reason for that is simple, pre-fall lookbooks are oftentimes way too commercial or too out of context. Pre-fall collections are superluous in my eyes basicly because their main goal is to fill the gap between the spring summer season and the actual fall season. I remember louis vuitton's last pre-fall collection, which was cute, pretty and wearable but had nothing to do with lv's regular rtw customers: the grannies (remember lv fall 2012?). But it was cute, this I have to admit.

Moving on to the main subject of this post, the advertising campaigns of ss 2013! Here are the ones that I love:

Miu Miu

Saint Laurent Paris

Ready to spread some critics? These campaigns are the ones that I loathe:

Burberry being on top of my loathe list has its reasons. Firstly, I didn't get the cheeky young boy laughing crazily at serious-looking, provocatively-showcasing-bare-thighs models situation. Secondly, the fact the british brand only uses british people in its ads makes the campaigns way too predictable and old-fashioned, in a negative sense. Thirdly, I still don't quite get Romeo Beckham's role in the ad campaign, despite the fact that his parents are uk's most famous celebrities.d

Kenzo, seriously? This human X-pose was refreshing last time. Now it only makes people wonder how often this will recur. And by the way, kenzo was more elegant once up a time!

What are your favorites and least favorites this season? Let me know.

fat snow

It's snowing like crazy here in Vienna and the fat fat fat layer of snow has blocked me from college. Here's me messing around in the garden. Aren't winter days awful? I want to wear thinner coats and jackets already! I layered my mango flannel shirt with a beige cardigan and than added a grey knitted vest from grandma, now that's what I call heart-warming! Unfortunately I didn't manage to show my other coats on the blog. I feel that I'm photographed in this trf leopard faux fur coat way too often. More and other interesting coats are coming up, I promise.

Stay warm and start counting the days of spring's arrival. They say when winter is ruling, it also means that spring is near.

horrifying trench coat

My mom has just accepted a horrendous metall buttons-embellished trench coat in black polyester, which makes me ask God why my dearest ones often make terrible terrible sartorial choices.

By asking myself this, I've also realised that maybe her not-so-fashion-forward thinking influenced me to somehow get interested in fashion at an early age. Every girl knows what I am talking about here: in our adolescence, there always comes a phase where our rebellious nature defeats our obedient side, which means we simply do not want to dress to please our moms anymore. I started young experimenting with darker colors because, well, my mother hated black and grey on me. In addition to that, there was a time when I only wore skin-tight clothes, because my mom did not approve it, which again made me very happy about tight shirts and jeans. Truth is, I don't even like skinny clothing that much, but the thought of being completely different than one's own mother was too tempting and too good.

What I'm trying to say here is that mothers and even grandmothers (the people we grew up with) do not only play an important role in our lives, but also influence the way we dress. Of course, there are loads of influential factors out there that shaped our styles, but opinions from mom has always weighed very much.

But let's go back to the weirdly tailored silver buttoned trench coat, which makes me wanna take a photo and put it on this blog to let the fashionable audience judge its ugliness. Yet, I decided not to do so at the last minute. I did come up with another more creative idea to draw the trenchcoat, which turned out to be an exhausting experience that took a bit too long...

All in all, my mom owns way too many unwearable/unbearable pieces in her closet and I just have to get over it. I understand that there are people, surprisingly but also female people who are really not interested in fashion. At all. And that's okay! God bless them.

faux fur for life

Peta-activist or not, we know it's a universal truth that a bit fur, authentic or faux, can magically upgrade a winter outfit in no time. Furry coats and little details can contribute a lot to 'dress to impress' in winter. Additionally, they add great warmth during the coldest days of the year.

You'll probably notice that my hair looks quite short here (and from the last post). Yes, I got a new hair length and I love it. Ever since I was little girl, I've been having long, straight, black hair and it was getting too boring for me, so I decided to try something new. I'm definitely one of those people who often times refuse to change, however, after a real change I'm always happy that I did. In fact, I think everyone should try out new things more often. Really, life is short, don't overthink.

After shooting outside, JJ and I were so cold we went to have some after-noon tea, at 5 o'clock, but still. Who doesn't love a little sweetness before and after the real meal? And while editing this post, I realised just how lucky I am to be able to live in a city like Vienna that has so many breath-taking, beautiful historic buildings in the inner-city. People often look at things blindfold when they are surrounded by them. So was I, completely forgetting how uncommon (in good and rare way) Vienna actually is. I still want to move to somewhere bigger, though. Busy january has started and let's work hard.

Happy happy new year!

I celebrated the end of 2012 and embraced 2013 in this sparkling glittering gown, wearing faux jewels and danced on plateaus. Silvester couldn't get any better than that! I actually enjoyed the cheap champagne (it's not even real champagne, but who cares), the loud loud loud fireworks and more importantly, getting the chance to start over. 2013 is gonna be GOOOOOOOD!

Cheers cheers cheers, to 2013.
